Environmental Education

¿Hablas Tortuga? is a project created by three students from AgroParisTech in order to make people aware of the importance of protecting turtles in Panama. Have a look!

Our environmental education and outreach efforts have included collaborations with local schools, and NGO’s such as the Azuero Earth Project, Teach PTY.

In recent years we developed sensitization and education campaigns in cooperation with young French students volunteers that reach more than 6,000 Panamanian children.

Design and Distribution of Environmentally Themed Board Games

In 2019 our Peace Corps Response Volunteer, Rita Clark-Sandino, designed a set of board games inspired by the Pablo Barrios Wildlife Refuge. Thanks to Big Sky’s Worthy Project Grant, we have distributed copies across 4 elementary schools in or around the refuge and have an extra kit available for checkout in Pedasi. If you would like a digital copy or would like to check them out, please write to us at tortugaspedasi@gmail.com.

Publication of the comic book “Finn, la Tortuga valiente de Pedasi”

(Finn, the brave sea turtle of Pedasi)

This year, as part of our education campaign, we published a children’s book inspired by our experience rehabilitating a young green sea turtle, found on a beach in Pedasi. It is distributed to local children that participate in our education program.

The book was financed by the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Program and designed by Rita Clark-Sandino.
